Those Involved in the Translation Process
The purpose of translation “is to pass on an understanding to people in their own language and create the same impact as the original text”. In order to achieve this, it requires a team of people. This includes the translators, the editors as well as the web master.

The Translator
A translator is someone who translates written messages from one language to another. He/she has a number of things defined as roles. A Translator is a person who has complete knowledge of source and receptor languages, intimate acquaintance with the subject matter, effective empathy with the original author and content and stylistic facility in the receptor language.

The Editor
An editor is a person responsible for the editorial aspects of a publication; the person who determines the final content of a text.

  1. Information management: correlating information from a wide range of sources into a coherent whole; ensuring this information provides the desired view of the institution; providing an effective means of locating specific information; commissioning material where there is an information deficiency.
  2. Quality control: ensuring accuracy, maintaining house style; advising (if not determining) on editorial policy and implementing that policy; determining appropriate metrics and supplying evaluative data to management.
  3. Author support: provision of tools, training, advice to facilitate HTML authoring.
  4. Web Design: creation and implementation of the corporate Web look-and-feel.
  5. Software skills: HTML, Perl, CGI etc. - i.e. the technical ability to carry out the above.
  6. System management: care and feeding of servers.

The Webmaster
A Webmaster is the one who installs the software or sets up the Web site. Web Master is the person who is in charge of and takes care of the website on a regular basis. Their job often contains roles such as ensuring that the website is up and running and making updates to the website. Web Designer or Web Developer may also be the Web Master in some cases.

Simultaneous Interpreting

Whereby on-site, our interpreters both listen and speak at the same time as participants.   Most of the time this type of service takes place at large conferences or meetings. This particular type of service is more expensive because it requires intense concentration; and we have to send at least two interpreters for a language combination.  In this instance we required you to provide the interpreter with quality microphones, headsets, and sometimes booths.

Consecutive Interpreting

With this type of onsite interpreting service, is the most widely used type of on-site interpreting services, the speaker speaks for a few minutes while the interpreter takes notes and then translates the speaker's message during her/his pause.   We are required to provide consecutive interpretation during training workshops, negotiations, and seminars.
