Sacam Language School is a part of Sacam IT Systems Intergration. The school focuses on the development of the individual which will enable him/her to learn fast and master the language in a short space of time.


COURSE LEVELS
There are classes at all levels beginning from Basic to Advanced. It has been split as follows:
BASIC

  • Basic Beginners: Learners are able to understand and use the most basic words
  • Basic Elementary Level: Learners are able to understand and take part in simple conversations

INTERMEDIATE

  • Intermediate 1
  • Intermediate 2

ADVANCED

  • Lower Advanced: Learners are able to read and write fluently for a variety of purposes
  • Upper Advanced: Learners are able to communicate in all situations with complete confidence.

Duration
Each course level is to be completed for a period of 48 hours over a period of 8 weeks. This has been subdivided as follows

TIMETABLE
Days: Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays
Time Slots:         9:00 – 11:00           11:30am – 13:30           14.00 – 16:00
NB: Classes can be scheduled to suit individuals who cannot fit in our time slots.             
Booklets: Three booklets are needed per level for course material. This would be provided to the student at no cost. However, students are required to purchase the BBC French Experience Book which we will be selling at R300.

Private lessons at individual’s convenience. In this case, the individual is charged R120 per hour. Also, a transport fee will be charged depending on the location.

You can contact on in person at our Braamfontein office, by email, phone to request for an application form and other information.
Fill out an application form and pay the non-refundable application fee of R200. Upon commencement of classes students will be expected to pay a deposit of R600

About the course
SACAM offers affordable Language Training.
The primary objective of the discipline of Translation and Interpreting Studies is to provide a professional edge to the study of language its aim being to train professionally qualified translators and interpreters. As interdisciplinary areas of study, translation and interpreting draw on the fields of language and literature, philosophical and theoretical studies, and, in its more strongly vocational aspect, on those of science, technology, finance and law. One of the

strengths of the discipline lies in its ability to reconcile theory and praxis in the training of professional translators and interpreters. The students learn both theory and practice what they have learnt.
By producing translators and interpreters of a high caliber, we aim to improve the status of the professions of translation and interpreting in South Africa and to enhance the quality of translation and interpreting services offered in the country.
We offer training in both Local and international languages. Our local language comprises Afrikaans, Zulu, Xhosa, Ndebele, and Sotho to name a few. Our international languages include French, English, Spanish, Portuguese, Swedish, Chinese and German to name a handful.

Background:
The idea of Translation and Interpreting Training was first established in 2006. Following the growing need for the need of translator and interpreters, SACAM expanded its services by creating a language department which provides translations and interpretation services. With the even greater need for such services, SACAM is extending this department by providing for people who either have a career or want to take up a career in Translations and Interpretation, seeking to provide training opportunities for translators and interpreters both in South African and major foreign languages. We therefore offer both beginners, intermediate as well as advanced courses in Translations and Interpretation. Considering South Africa’s policy of multilingualism, we see such as program as inevitable
